Transitions

Welcome to MMS!

This is such an exciting time for your 5th grader! Here is a general timeline of activities that help kick off your students' eventual arrival at MMS in the Fall!

Please access Principal Dalhstrom’s Welcome Letter to 5th-grade parents that outlines the 5th to 6th Grade Transition Process. Contained in this letter are specifics around Math placement and Music and World Language choices.

Each Elementary School gets to visit MMS. The incoming 5th grade class will be coming up to the middle school for a morning program that consists of a tour and presentations by MMS students and staff. MMS Teachers/Staff will also be meeting with the elementary school staff at this time to share information to facilitate the transition. Below is the schedule for your elementary schools to visit MMS:

April 8 - Holmes
April 9 - Royle
April 10 - Ox Ridge
April 11 - Hindley
April 12 - Tokeneke

Placement and scheduling begin in the Spring and continue into the Summer. As this is a very complex process, we do not honor requests for teachers or teams.

In order to facilitate scheduling for next year, it is essential that you share your child’s Music and World Language preferences with us by Friday, March 1, 2024. Please discuss and review the opportunities available at MMS with your child.

Please use the following link to submit your Music and World Language choices:

Math Placement - 5th Grade Parents will be notified and will be able to view their child’s Math placement in ASPEN by the end of April.  If you have questions about the process, criteria, or your student's placement, please contact your building principal.
