Happy December, MMS Families!

Congratulations to our MMS Orchestras on their performances last night! We look forward to our Band Concert on Monday (12/8 at 7:00 pm) and Chorus Concerts on Wednesday (12/10 at 6:30 for sixth and seventh graders, and 8:00 for eighth graders and Camerata). Performances will be in the Darien High School Auditorium.

Next week, the MMS Computer and STEM Department will be hosting our annual Hour of Code event! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with their peers while exploring basic coding concepts, trying out trending AI tools, and testing out our First Lego League Spike Robots. The event will take place on Thursday, December 11th, from 2:30–3:40 PM in the MMS Library. Register your child for the event by completing the Hour of Code Registration Form.

The Eighth Grade Class is hosting a collection for Toys for Tots from December 8-19. All members of the MMS community are invited to bring in new, unwrapped toys for donation.

Also next week, the MMS administration, in partnership with the MPA, invites you to join for Coffee with Karla:

Karla Greto, TeenTalk Counselor, and Dani Jenkins, School Counselor, will share insights from their work with students and families at MMS. Sarah McCarty of Thriving Youth Darien will join to provide an overview of what recent youth survey data reveals about current nutrition and wellness behaviors. This session is designed to help parents better understand the challenges today’s youth are facing and explore ways we can work together to support healthy, balanced habits at home and in school. Enjoy coffee, connection, and meaningful conversation. This event will take place on December 11th at 9:00am in the Middlesex Auditorium.

Finally, our neighbors have reported concerns about families using Edgerton and Ridgley for drop off and pick up. Please adhere to designated locations and continue to follow directions from Officer Taggart, Campus Monitor Thompson, and our local crossing guards and traffic officials. Students who are walking to or from school should always cross at crosswalks. I appreciate your patience and cooperation during drop off and pick up to ensure students are arriving and departing safely!

Wishing you a joyful weekend,
