2025-12-12 -- Principal's Email

Dear MMS Families,

With only six and a half school days left in 2025, we are just halfway through the second quarter. This is a great time to check Aspen with your child(ren) and communicate with the school team if you have any questions as we partner for a great start to the new year ahead. This busy time of year is also filled with wonderful moments to celebrate our students’ contributions and growth: Congratulations to all of our student musicians on spectacular winter concerts, showcasing their creativity and talents! If you missed the Orchestra, Band, or Chorus performances, you can watch the recorded livestream on the DarienPS Live Events YouTube Channel. This week students also celebrated the Hour of Code, a unique opportunity to explore technology with curiosity. Thank you to our MPA for providing snacks for that event and for co-hosting Coffee with Karla yesterday. Students from Mu Alpha Theta, the Math Honors Society at DHS, joined math classes this morning for a lesson on fractals and the Koch Snowflake; thank you for communicating your love of mathematical thinking with MMS today.

Looking ahead:

Toys for Tots
Student Council and the 8th Grade Class invite all community members to participate in our Toys for Tots drive. Please bring a new and unwrapped toy to donate to a child in need.  Last year, MMS donated 888 items!  Sixth and Seventh graders can bring your donated item to the rotunda from Monday, December 15 to Tuesday, December 23rd! Eighth graders can drop off items in their team leaders’ classrooms.

The Lost and Found

Thank you to the parent volunteers who have been organizing the Lost and Found; any items with names on them have been returned to students. We still have quite a few items waiting to be reclaimed by their owners! Items that remain will be donated in the new year.
