Dear MMS Families,
Today we celebrated Career Day with our 8th graders – thank you to the volunteers in the Middlesex Parents Association who supported the organization of this event alongside the grade level team, Dr. Bellows, Ms. Petrasanta, and Mr. Carnevali. Our students had the opportunity to hear fascinating experiences and ask questions of talented and dedicated professionals from a range of fields; we are grateful to each of them for the time they volunteered to our students and community to make today such a success!
We have several exciting events to look forward to in March:
- Sunday, March 1: The World Famous Harlem Wizards vs. Blue Wave!
The Blue Wave Booster Club is excited to announce the return of this three-time sell-out event taking place at DHS on Sunday, March 1 at 2:00 pm! Come out for an afternoon of hilarious, great fun as The Harlem Wizards are taking on the Blue Wave Home Team! The lineup features our very own talented Darien teachers and administrators. This basketball extravaganza is loaded with laugh-out-loud audience participation. Never in the history of sport will the losing team have so much fun! - Monday, March 2nd from 5:00–7:00 PM: Curiosity & Experiment Night in the DHS Cafeteria Come see what DHS Tech Ed is all about and discover where your interests could take you! This is your chance to:
- Meet current Tech Ed students and teachers
- Explore exciting engineering and design projects
- Participate in hands-on activities
- Win fun prizes
- Thursday, March 5: Jennifer Wallace Author Visit at 6:30 in the DHS Auditorium
Author of Never Enough and Mattering, Jennifer Wallace will discuss the pressures of modern achievement and offer guidance on fostering a "culture of mattering”. Parents of children of all ages, please join us to learn how centering a child's inherent value can combat the rising trends of student loneliness and anxiety. This is a wonderful opportunity as a valued member of our community to submit questions in advance that will be addressed during the discussion. Please submit questions via this form by Monday, March 2 at 3:00 pm. We hope to hear from many of you and see you there!

We look forward to welcoming artist Tom Varano of Emotion into Art back to MMS, thanks to the generous support of the MPA! Tom is dynamic portrait artist who integrates storytelling to “spark courage, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of dreams.”
- Friday March 27: 8th Grade Visit to DHS!
8th graders will gather at MMS in the morning and bus to DHS, where students are invited to buy breakfast and spend some time familiarizing themselves with our cafeteria as they hear from DHS students about opportunities to join one of our seventy clubs! MMS students then will gather in the auditorium to hear teachers, administrators, and DHS students answer questions that 8th graders have submitted and also detail life and opportunities at DHS. MMS students will be bussed back to MMS around 10 AM. We can’t wait to meet all of your kids!
Good luck to our Quiz Bowl team members in Washington, D.C. this weekend – we are so proud of your diligent preparation, your good sportsmanship and teamwork, and your representation of our community!
