Happy New Year, MMS Families! 

We have enjoyed welcoming students back for the beginning of 2026 and the final weeks of second quarter at MMS, which ends on January 22. This week, eighth graders participated in benchmark ELA assessments in English classes. We are looking forward to welcoming DHS school counselors next week as they meet with eighth grade classes to discuss the course selection process for their upcoming freshman year! 

Next week is a four day week, with no school on Friday, January 16 as our educators will engage in professional development. The After School Sports Club will resume next week and meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. All students are welcome to participate!

1/19: No school (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
1/21 & 1/22: Aimsweb Testing 
1/21: 8th to 9th Grade math transition online info session at 7pm online (see flyer here) 
1/22: Q2 Ends
1/22: DPS Parent University: 6:30 at MMS Library Media Center. This event is designed to help parents navigate the raidly evolving world of Artificial Intelligence; pre-register here.
1/23: Aimsweb testing makeup day
1/23: Q3 Begins
1/27: 5th graders visit to preview Bye, Bye Birdie
1/28: Darien High School Curriculum Night at 7pm in the DHS Auditorium for 8th Grade Parents (optional student-led tours at 6pm)
1/29- 1/31: Bye, Bye Birdie (information about tickets forthcoming)
