2025-10-10 -- Principal's Email
Good afternoon, MMS Families,
Fall weather arrived with a notably brisk chill in the air at drop off this morning. As a reminder, students can enter the building via the cafeteria/gym doors beginning at 7:30. Students who have made arrangements to attend early extra help or have a rehearsal/extra curricular before school may enter through the front door from 7:20-7:30.
Today marks mid-quarter, and I can hardly believe how quickly the beginning of the school year has gone. This is a good time to check Aspen with your child(ren) and reach out to teachers or team leaders if you have any questions about child(ren)’s progress so far. This week we also completed Aimsweb Testing in extended Flex periods on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. As I shared last week, that data helps inform our instruction and interventions.
Next week, on Tuesday, our eighth graders will be attending a preview of Ken Burns’s new documentary, The American Revolution, followed by a discussion with producer Sarah Botstein. On Friday, our seventh grade journeys to Medieval Times. We are excited for these opportunities to enrich our students’ curricular experiences, and we are grateful to the Middlesex Parents’ Association for contributing to the costs of these trips.
Looking further ahead, on Monday, October 20, we will welcome author Victoria Jamieson, who will present to each grade level. The Scholastic Book Fair will run 10/21-10/23, and students will visit during their English classes: Grade 6 English A on Tuesday; Grade 7 English on Wednesday; and Grade 8 English on Thursday. Purchases may be made with cash, check, or e-wallet. For more information about how the e-wallet works, or to set one up for your child(ren), please check out Scholastic’s MMS book fair e-wallet website. We will begin the literary festivities with a trivia contest in Flex on Monday, thanks to our fabulous school librarian, Denise Ryan.
Sincerely,
Kate
